By submitting your entry to Sceilig Sport Horses you are agreeing to our Terms and Conditions below.
Should you feel you will not be able to adhere to these protocols then you should not attend Sceilig Sport Horses.
These Terms will be strictly adhered to and are in place for your safety, our staff’s safety and the safety of our other clients who will be using our facilities.
– All up to date helmets and appropriate footwear must be worn at all times when mounted.
– Entries will be capped should demand be high
– No refunds after the close of entries, no transferring of entries to another class after the close of entry.
– Unpaid entries will NOT be accepted, if your entry has not been paid for by close of entries it will not be accepted, we won’t contact you looking for payment, it is your responsibility to be organised.
– Time keeping will be strictly adhered to.
– Entering the yard, lunge, walker, and any interactions with Sceilig Horses is completely forbidden.
General Rules
– Passports should accompany all horses/ponies to the ring as inspections may take place at the request of the judge or stewards.
– Please respect all of the staff at Sceilig, they are there to help with the smooth and safe running of the day.
– Classes maybe capped and close early if they reach capacity.
Inhand Class Rules
– All handlers must have obtained their 16th birthday by the 1st of January 2022
– Wearing of a protective hat is recommended
– Foals must be led at all times
Working Hunter Rules
– Back protectors are mandatory for all under 16’s. this can be removed for the flat phase of the class.
– Back protectors are recommended for over 16’s
– The same rider must ride the horse throughout the class.
Tack:
– Only front boots permitted, absolutely no back boots allowed.
– Boots should be removed for the showing phase.
– A Double Bridle may be worn.
– A Running Martingale can be used with a double bridle but, on the snaffle rein only.
– The same tack must be worn in all phases.

- Open Cob Class – Mare or Geldings, Lightweight, Heavyweight and Maxi cobs, 4yrs old and over.
- Heavyweight Hunter – Mare or Gelding 4yrs old and over, to carry 14 stone or over.
- Middleweight Hunter– Mare or Gelding 4yrs old and over, to carry up to 13 stone.
- Lightweight Hunter – Mare or Gelding 4yrs old and over, to carry 12 stone.
- Small Hunter– Mare or Gelding 4yrs old and over, under 158cm
- 4 Year Old Hunter – Mare or Gelding 4 years of age.
- Championships for Weighted Hunters
- Riding Horse Class – Mare or Gelding, 4yrs old and over. If enough entries to be split large and smalls.
- Coloured Horse Class – Mare or Gelding, 4yrs old and over
- Ladies Side Saddle Class – Mare or gelding 4yrs old and over, 148cm and over to be ridden by riders who have attained their 16th birthday by 1st January 2022.
- Amateur Class – Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over to be ridden by an amateur rider. An amateur is defined as a person who does not derive an income from horses. The horse entered should be the riders regular mount and have not been ridden by a professional in any class at the show.
- Treo Eile Racehorse to Riding Horse Class – Thoroughbred Mare or Gelding, 4year olds and over. €300 prize fund available: 1st €150, 2nd €60, 3rd €30, 4th €20, 5th €20, 6th €20

- Show Hunter Lead Rein– Mare or Gelding 4yr old or over not exceeding 123cms suitable for and to be ridden by riders who have attained their 5th birthday but have not attained their 8th birthday by 1st January 2022.
- First Ridden Show Hunter– Mare or Gelding 4yr old and over not exceeding 123cms suitable for and to be ridden by riders who have attained their 5th birthday but have not attained their 10th birthday by 1st January 2022.
- Show Hunter Starter Stakes– Mare or Gelding 4yr old and over not exceeding 133cms suitable for and to be ridden by riders who have not attained their 12th birthday by 1st January 2022.
- Connemara Ridden 4 & 5 Year Olds– Mare or Gelding 4 & 5 year olds, ponies must be ridden by a rider who has attended their 12th birthday by the 1st of January 2022. Snaffle bridles only.

- Working Hunter Starter Stakes– Mare or gelding 4yrs old and over, not exceeding 133, to be ridden by riders who have attained their 12th birthday by 1st January 2022. 80cm max
- 143/153 Working Hunter– Mare or gelding 4yrs old and over, not exceeding 158, to be ridden by riders who have attained their 18th birthday by 1st January 2022. 1/1.05 metre max. If entries allow class maybe split.
- Connemara 4 & 5 Year Old Working Hunter – Mare, gelding or stallion 4 & 5 yrs old. Stallion’s must be ridden by rider who has attended their 14thbirthday by 1stJanuary 2022. 85cm max.
- Connemara U16 Working Hunter– Mare, gelding or stallion 4yrs old and over. Rider to be under 16 year old. Stallion’s must be ridden by rider who has attended their 14thbirthday by 1st January 2022. 95cm max.
- Connemara O16 Working Hunter– Mare, gelding or stallion 4yrs old and over. Rider to be over 16 year old. Stallion’s must be ridden by rider who has attended their 14thbirthday by 1st January 2022. 1metre max.
- Pony Working Hunter Championship
- Horse 80cm Working Hunter– Mare or Gelding 4yrs old and over, over 158, prize for highest placed 4-year-old.
- Horse 90cm Working Hunter – Mare or Gelding 4yrs old and over, over 158.
